EA to upgrade current- to next-gen titles for free

EA has pledged to upgrade its upcoming current-gen titles to next-gen titles for free where available.

The news comes after an EA video conference presented by CEO Andrew Wilson and CFO & CCO Blake Jorgensen. While the upgrade itself has been promised, the pair didn’t detail the games, nor the platforms, it would apply on.

Microsoft, CD Projekt Red and Ubisoft have previously announced similar schemes that would allow for current-gen titles on Xbox One, as an example, to be played on Xbox Series X when avaialble.

We’ll update you on EA’s plans as more information is made available. Microsoft is hosting an Inside Xbox tonight that will showcase third-party gameplay on Xbox Series X, so we may see some EA games on the stream tonight. EA has also confirmed that a new EA Play livestream will take place in June.
