EA makes $1.3 billion USD a year off of Ultimate Team, DLC and other add-ons

EA CFO Blake Jorgensen used the Morgan Stanley investor conference yesterday to confirm that the publisher makes $1.3 billion USD a year off of extra content like microtransactions, Season Passes and map packs.

According to Jorgensen, a major portion of that total amount comes from Ultimate Team purchases inside titles like FIFA and NHL.

“The extra content business is a billion-three [$1.3 billion] a year,” Jorgensen said. “Half of that is roughly our Ultimate Team business.”

Speaking of Ultimate Team, Jorgensen said players will “typically pay money to beat their friends.”

Other sources of income helping reach that $1.3 billion USD total include mobile purchases ($650 million USD), subscription services ($300-400 million USD) and digital downloads.
