EA launching new open world studio based in Seattle

Helmed by former Monolith VP Kevin Stephens.

EA has launched a new open world studio in Seattle that will be headed up by former Monolith VP and Studio Head, Kevin Stephens.

The news comes from Games Industry, which reports that Stephens will be paired with former Monolith President, Samantha Ryan, who recently served as EA Senior VP and Group General Manager.

“Kevin joining forces with Samantha and the incredibly talented teams at Electronic Arts adds even more depth to our creative collective,” said EA Chief Studios Officer, Laura Miele.

“Kevin is an exceptionally talented game developer leader and we look forward to supporting him while he builds his team. As someone known for his open world action-adventure games, we know players will be eagerly awaiting more details on this new studio and its projects.”

Stephens’ work at Monolith includes Middle-earth Shadow of Mordor and Middle-earth Shadow of War.

It’s unclear what the new studio is working on — or what it’s called — but we’ll report back as we learn more.
