EA drops “Ghost” trademark application after opposition from Ubisoft

EA has abandoned its trademark application for the term “Ghost” after opposition by Ubisoft.

The application was made back in January, prompting Ubisoft to consider legal action if it was continued. In the end, EA has filed to withdraw (as discovered by NeoGAF).

It’s believed EA wanted to trademark the term due to Need for Speed developer Ghost Games, but Ubisoft was concerned that would cause confusion due to their Ghost Recon franchise.
