Dragon Quest Walk is Square Enix’s answer to Pokemon Go

Dragon Quest Walk was recently announced by Square Enix, an RPG-style game which shares a lot in common with Niantic’s popular Pokemon Go.

An augmented reality experience due later this year on both iOS and Android devices, Dragon Quest Walk will spawn monsters onto a real-world map; tapped on them will engage you in a turn-based battle with said fiend.

Defeating monsters will award you with XP, which in turn can be used to level up your player character and stats.

A closed beta is planned for Japanese iOS and Android players later this month; we’ll let you know when western availability is confirmed.
