Dragon Age The Veilguard DLC in question as BioWare shifts to Mass Effect

I'm personally okay with that...

Proper Dragon Age The Veilguard DLC may be in question as developer BioWare has confirmed it has shifted its “full attention” to the next Mass Effect game.

BioWare creative director John Epler made the confirmation with IGN, saying that the studio plans to “support The Veilguard with quality-of-life improvements and a handful of smaller content updates”.

While that comment may sadden those who are fans of the Dragon Age franchise, it’s great news for fans — like this writer here — of BioWare’s Mass Effect franchise.

It may not be as welcome to someone like Hamish, who in our review of The Veilguard, had nothing but glowing comments to make.

“It’s been so long since I experienced this level of joy in a long-form RPG; I have a compulsion to keep playing and finish one more quest,” Hamish wrote. “While I don’t think Dragon Age has cured me of my recent aversion to grand RPGs, it’s helped me realise that it’s not the genre but the increasing homogenisation of the genre’s gameplay loop that has sucked the joy out of it.”

The next Mass Effect game was heavily teased starting 2021, but we haven’t heard much of it yet. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more.

Dragon Age The Veilguard is out now on Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5.
