Donkey Kong Country Returns HD coming 2025

Another remaster...

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD is yet another Nintendo remake heading to Switch, this time in 2025.

“Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong are back for some ground-pounding action in this HD version of Donkey Kong Country Returns, originally released on Wii,” Nintendo said of the remaster.

“The villainous Tiki Tak Tribe has stolen Donkey Kong’s precious banana hoard and the Kongs are barrelling after them in pursuit.”

You’ll be able to play in single-player or local two-player co-op across “80 a-peel-ing levels, including the additional ones from the Nintendo 3DS version [released after the Wii iteration].”

“All in all, I had a lot of fun playing through this game again, even after giving it a shot back in its Wii days,” we said back in the day, reviewing Returns‘ 3DS release. “The ability to pick it up and put it down for short bursts was a perfect fit for the game, and helped keep my blood pressure under control for some of the endgame levels that really got me boiling over.”

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD is expected on Switch sometime in 2025.
