The internet thinks Mario sounds like Chris Pratt in Mario Bros movie

But shouldn't it be the other way around?

The first trailer for the Super Mario Bros movie was today released and features Chris Pratt’s Mario sounding just like Chris Pratt.

That of course makes sense when you think about it, but the general internet sentiment is that Pratt should have tried anything other than his normal speaking voice.

No, really. Take a look.

Though Pratt is divisive (and for more than just his regular ol’ voice… being tied to the controversial Hillsong Church will do that to you), the internet is largely on board with the movie’s animation style and other casting choices. Jack Black as Bowser, as an example, seems to have gone over quite well.

You can take a look at the trailer, below, and let us know what you think.

The Super Mario Bros movie heads to theatres on 7 April 2023.
