Sonic Origins is a retro bundle with a bunch of unnecessary editions

Wha.

Sonic Origins was today announced by Sega, a retro bundle of classic Sonic titles that’s being released in a number of head-scratching editions.

Before we get to that insanity, let’s talk about the games on offer. They include Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic CD, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

There are literally more editions of Sonic Origins than titles included in the bundle. Its editions are legitimately so confusing that Sega had to make a chart to explain it all.

At the very least, you can order the standard edition to, you know, just get the games. If you’re inclined to get more, here’s what each edition or pack will cost you:

  • Sonic Origins Standard Edition: $59.95 AUD
  • Sonic Origins Digital Deluxe: $67.95 AUD
  • Sonic Origins Premium Fun Pack: $5.99 AUD
  • Sonic Origins Classic Sound Pack: $5.99 AUD

Moreover, pre-order bonuses are as follows:

  • 100 Medallion Bonus
  • Mirror Mode Unlocked
  • Letter Box (Mega Drive Pattern)

Sonic Origins heads to Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5 and Switch from 23 June.
