The game's director says it's legit.
E3 2001’s Duke Nukem Forever has appeared online in both video and screenshot form, with the title’s original director saying the content “looks real”.
The leaked content, straight from a build of the game prepared for E3 2001, is courtesy user “x0r”.
The user responsible for the leak (via Duke4.net, where you can also check out the content) says that every chapter of the cancelled game is available in “some form”, including a large portion that is actually playable. Further, x0r promised to leak the entirety of what’s available in June.
Looking at the leak, Duke Nukem Forever‘s original director George Broussard says he believes the leaked content is legit.
“Yes, the leak looks real. No, I’m not really interested in talking about it or retreading a painful past,” Broussard said.
“You should heavily temper expectations. There is no real game to play. Just a smattering of barely populated test levels. I have no knowledge who leaked this.”
Long considered vapourware, Duke Nukem Forever was eventually picked up by Gearbox and was released in 2011.
