Directive 8020 release date set for 12 May

Mark those calendars.

Supermassive’s Dark Pictures Anthology will continue later this year as we now know that the Directive 8020 release date has been set for 12 May across PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.

A new trailer details the choices you’ll need to make as part of the sci-fi horror adventure.

“Cooper, the ship’s medic, is fuelled by paranoia and faces a harrowing decision as her crewmate Mitchell pleads for release from behind a sealed door,” Supermassive said in a press release. “Cooper, unknowing if he’s human or not, has a difficult decision to make. This moment underscores a core theme of Directive 8020: trust no one, as every action has consequences.”

“Based on how the game branches and your previous decisions, Cooper can now possess the gun instead of Captain Stafford,” Supermassive continued. “Two identical versions of Cernan (the ship’s Engineer) rush into view and you must choose: who is the mimic and who do you allow back into the crew? One choice will prove fatal.”

We cannot wait for what looks to be a sci-fi horror survival adventure that’s equal parts Alien and The Thing.

Expect The Dark Pictures Directive 8020 from 12 May 2026 on Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5. Pre-orders are available now and offer up a free digital deluxe edition upgrade.
