Developers have made over $70 billion USD in the Apple App Store

Developers have earned over $70,000,000,000 USD inside the App Store, Apple today confirmed.

With a usual 70/30 split between developers and Apple, it’s likely purchases inside the App Store total over $100 billion USD.

Apple used a press release to highlight gaming apps Pokémon GO and Super Mario Run alongside “other standout launches such as CancerAid, SPACE by THIX, Zones for Training with Exercise Intensity, Vanido, Ace Tennis and Havenly.”

“People everywhere love apps and our customers are downloading them in record numbers,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s Senior VP of Worldwide Marketing. “Seventy billion dollars earned by developers is simply mind-blowing. We are amazed at all of the great new apps our developers create and can’t wait to see them again next week at our Worldwide Developers Conference.”

Users are sure loving the App Store — app downloads increased 70% compared to last year, and paid app subscriptions rose 58% in that same period.

Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference starts next week.
