Destiny’s Damage Referee looks to stomp out cheaters taking advantage of lag

Destiny is ready to drop something called a Damage Referee into multiplayer matches as part of its February update. Said referee exists to improve balance in online matches, specifically targeting those taking advantage of lag hacks.

The referee will implement a series of new checks that will provide an advantage to those playing with solid ping. Those that don’t will find that usual manipulations will no longer work as expected.

The February update will also remove special ammo from some game types, and require players to pick up special ammo from a crate before using a weapon in others. Most importantly, the February update will kick off the Crimson Days event, starting 9 February.

Will you be getting back into Destiny as a result of these changes?
