Destiny’s April update: Chroma, infusion, new gear and more

A new Destiny livestream today unveiled a bunch of updates and additions to the popular MMO, including new loot and the new Chroma system, changes to infusion and more.

The Chroma system will illuminate armour and weaponry with one of four colours: red, blue, yellow or white. All items are customisable, so Guardians can use one colour scheme or mix and match for something out of this world.

Alongside the new customisation are five new lines of armour, one for each of the game’s faction. Alongside new gear for Broken Orbit and company are Desolute (Taken) armour and Spektar armour. Faction armour will be available through faction packages, and the new Desolute and Spektar gear through Sterling Treasure boxes. Said boxes are obtainable by completing your first weekly Crucible activity of completing Level 41 Prison of Elders. The boxes are also obtainable through microtransaction — 200 pieces of Eververse Silver.

Changes to infusion mean that you’ll retain the highest level Light between the two pieces that were offered up. This is a drastic change from the average Light that was previously awarded through infusion.

Finally, the game’s Vault has been expanded to include a third weapon page. There are other minor changes which are detailed in the livestream, shown above.

We’ll have more on Destiny‘s big April update as it becomes available.
