Destiny 2 Solstice of Heroes 2022 brings big changes next week

And we'll try to summarise those changes below.

Destiny 2 Solstice of Heroes 2022 returns with big changes next week, Bungie has today advised.

Kicking off on 20 July here in the Australia, the event will offer up a new way to upgrade armor alongside the debut of the new Event Card.

The Event Card has been designed to “organize objectives and help guide players on what they can do during the event,” according to Bungie, and is obtained via Eva Levante in the Tower. It consists of Event Challenges, Seals and Upgraded Event Card Rewards depending on your access to paid or free events. Players can also dump 1,000 Silver into the Event Card to instantly unlock a reward bungle alongside Event Tickets that lead to more loot.

Moreover, the way armor is obtained and upgraded will change with this Solstice event.

“We wanted to change the way you earn and upgrade armor with this update to Solstice,” said Bungie’s CJ Payne. “As part of that, we removed those pesky objectives from the armor and streamlined the upgrade process for all classes.”

Players can use the new system to “reasonably chase armor rolls for the duration of the event,” Bungie continued. Players will do this by obtaining armor currencies throughout Solstice: Silver Leaves, Silver Ash, and Kindling. Silver Leaves are transformed to Silver Ash, which lets you reroll armor stats. Kindling permanently upgrades your armor’s stat roll potential, and will eventually cause the armor to glow when fully upgraded.

Solstice of Heroes 2022 runs between 20 July and 10 August here in Australia.

Destiny 2 is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5 and Stadia.
