Destiny 2 drops random rolls for weaponry

Destiny 2 will drop random rolls for weaponry, Bungie’s Luke Smith recently confirmed.

“There aren’t random rolls on weapons anymore,” Smith told Mashable. “Better Devils is a Crucible hand cannon [in Destiny 2], and what it has on it is what it has on it. Period.”

Bungie is currently devising other ways to encourage players to grind for loot drops, it seems.

“How can my second, third, and tenth Better Devils hand cannon be interesting? That’s a question we should be asking and answering as quickly as we can,” Smith continued.

“We have ideas. While I would like nothing more than to share those ideas with you, we’re up against [a deadline]. I don’t know if they’ll make it for our September 6 [release] date. But we have some ideas that we’re pretty excited about.”

The change not only makes things easier for Guardians, it also makes things easier for Bungie in terms of in-game tweaks, Smith concluded.

“It’s gonna give us more flexibility to do per-item tuning. [That’s] something we haven’t had before because of the way we were building the [first] game.”

Destiny 2 heads to Xbox One and PS4 from 6 September, and October 24 on PC. Xbox One and PS4 also get a closed, then open, beta later this month.
