Destiny 2 cross-play arrives 25 August with new season

Here's what to expect.

Destiny 2 cross-play will arrive in Australia on 25 August alongside a new season, Bungie has today announced.

“Cross Play will go live early in Season of the [REDACTED],” Bungie said as part of a lengthy update. “When players log in for the first time to play Season of the [REDACTED], the name on whatever platform they log in on will become their Bungie Name for when Cross Play goes live.”

Player names that violate Bungie’s Code of Conduct (so likely looking at you, Steam players) will have their name changed to “Guardian”. Steam profile names — not Steam account names — will be used, and can be up to 26 characters in length.

Bungie also released a cool video that showed off “a year of epic moments” in-game. It’s below if you haven’t checked it out.

Destiny 2‘s 15th season — whatever it’s called — will be detailed at 2.00 am AEST on 25 August ahead of the season itself, which should become available at 3.00 am AEST that same day.

Destiny 2 is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5 and Stadia.
