Despite disbanding its devs, Ubisoft releasing Prince of Persia The Lost Crown on mobile

Um, yay?

Despite disbanding the original development team behind Prince of Persia The Lost Crown, Ubisoft will now released the title on both iOS and Android devices in April.

“This action-adventure platformer, inspired by the Metroidvania genre, has been fully adapted to mobile by Ubisoft Da Nang studio, integrating all features to provide a thrilling experience on the go, no internet connection required,” Ubisoft said in a press release issued today.

The title will offer up a free trial upon its release on 14 April, and will support 60 frames-per-second provided your device can handle it.

In October last year, Ubisoft confirmed that “most” of the dev team at Ubisoft Montpellier had “shifted to other projects that will benefit from their expertise”.

We absolutely adored The Lost Crown, awarding it a 9.5/10 in our review… just not the treatment of the team behind it.

The Lost Crown encapsulates everything an excellent Metroidvania game should while respectfully honouring the Prince of Persia IP by bringing it somewhat back to its roots,” Jay wrote at the time. “Much like the game that started it all, everyone should have a copy of Prince of Persia.”

The title also won Best Action-Adventure in Stevivor’s Game of the Year 2024 awards program.

Prince of Persia The Lost Crown is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X.
