DC Universe free for a day to celebrate Batman’s 80th

Certain elements of the DC Universe streaming service will be free to access for a whole day on 30 March, the 80th birthday of Batman.

Batman’s first appearance in Detective Comics 80 long years ago will be celebrated with free access to Batman movies, TV shows and comics, though there are exceptions. The Christopher Nolan Dark Knight trilogy will remain locked behind a paywall, most notably.

The general public will get access to the Batman quadrilogy of films that started with Tim Burton’s Batman and Batman Returns alongside Batman: The Animated Series and Super Friends. On the comics side, Detective Comics will be available, but Batman’s first appearance in issue #27 is not.

DC Universe isn’t available directly in Australia, though those with a VPN will be able to access the content on the day. Should anyone wish to keep going with DC Universe, you’ll be able to buy your first month for $.80 USD between 29 March and 4 April.

If you’re after DC Universe here in Australia for shows like Titans, take heart — it appears most of the service’s exclusive content will eventually make it over to Netflix.
