Who needs a new game when you can get a prettier old one?
Darksiders 2 is the latest old game to get “enhanced” on current-gen (after already being “enhanced” on the gen before that), THQ Nordic has today confirmed.
In a press release, the publisher seemed well aware of the situation.
“We know many of you are eagerly awaiting the next chapter in the Darksiders saga, teased during THQ Nordic’s 2024 August Showcase,” the release began. “Well, we have news—but this isn’t that announcement!”
Instead, Deathinitive Edition is a rehash that will offer “4K resolution, ray tracing, and enhanced lighting and shadows to harness the power of today’s consoles” — and potentially, even more of that if you want to splash out and spend $1,200 AUD on an upcoming PS5 Pro.
Here’s a news story from 2015 in which we essentially make the same announcement for the title on PS4 and Xbox One. It’s late in the day, so let’s leave it at that.
Expect Darksiders 2 Deathinitive Edition on Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5 from 15 October. It’s already available on PS4, Xbox One, and Switch… and via Darksiders 2 on Windows PC, Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U before that.
