Cyberpunk 2077 Mac release coming 17 July

Haven't played it anywhere else? Now you can on Mac too.

Hot off the heels of a release on Nintendo Switch 2, Cyberpunk 2077 will be available on Macs with Apple silicon from 17 July. The Ultimate Edition of the title will include the base game alongside its Phantom Liberty expansion.

“Players using everything from M1 models to the recently released Macs with M4 and M3 family of chips — including the new iMac, MacBook Air, Mac mini, MacBook Pro, and Mac Studio with M3 Ultra— can expect an experience optimised to their hardware and finely tuned to bring out the full capabilities of the Mac lineup,” Apple said.

At launch, “the game fully utilises Apple’s Tile-Based Deferred Rendering (TBDR) architecture by adding native Metal API support, leveraging Metal’s C++ interface and the Metal Shader Converter to optimise the rendering pipeline for Apple GPUs,” Apple continued.

Later this year, the title will be updated to “take advantage of our upcoming Metal 4 features — Metal FX Frame Interpolation and MetalFX Denoising” chief amongst them, Apple added.

“You’ll connect with V, worry about which way the story will go and stress over the aspects of it that you can control because you’ll want only the best outcome for them. You’ll raise your eyebrows at the graphical bugs showing up in a game eight years in the making (and thrice delayed) and then quickly forget them all as you bask in the beauty of Night City; the greatest video game world ever built,” Jay wrote in his 9.5/10 review based on a PC build.

“You’ll feel firstly overwhelmed by the number of upgrades to consider, and then underwhelmed by their lack of necessity as you hurtle towards its end game. Enjoy the ride, a satisfying one without question.”

Cyberpunk 2077 was awarded the title Best RPG of 2021 as part of our Game of the Year awards. It’s currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5, and Switch 2, and heads to Mac later this week.
