Crash Bandicoot 4 N. Verted mode, Dingodile confirmed

Crash Bandicoot 4 It’s About Time will add an N. Verted mode and playable Dingodile, it was recently revealed during this morning’s PlayStation State of Play.

Toys for Bob’s new sequel will include another playable character in the form of Dingodile — a half-crocodile, half-dingo (below) — alongside a new N. Verted mode (shown in the image above).

“N. Verted mode takes the concept of mirror mode and phase shifts it into another dimension,” Activision’s James Mattone wrote. “Perspective isn’t the only thing that changed; when playing in a dimension on N. Verted mode, that dimension may involve splattering paint to see your path forward, or keeping up with an old timey film reel that cranks up gameplay speed just as fast as it puts the picture on the screen.”

“Once you unlock this mode, all the game’s levels are repayable with this new art style, game feel, and challenges, allowing for the true completionists at heart to further challenge themselves for even more rewards, or for anyone who is curious about how their favorite levels get N. Verted.”

Finally, Activision and Toys for Bob confirmed that a number of new skins would be earnable in-game, following up on previous statements that the game will not contain microtransactions.

“PlayStation players will also get to enjoy several additional time-shattering skins upon reaching the Dimensional Map,” the publisher also advised.

Crash Bandicoot 4 It’s About Time heads to Xbox One and PS4 from 2 October. A next-gen iteration on Xbox Series X and PS5 will follow later in the year. (Update: Nope! We wrote that last bit with muscle memory; nothing’s been confirmed.)
