Counter-Strike 2 is real, coming later this year

All the rumours were true...

Counter-Strike 2 is a real thing, coming later in 2023.

Valve is billing the release as a free upgrade to the original Counter-Strike Global Offensive, and as rumoured will run on the company’s Source 2 engine. Players will be able to transfer all their original CS:GO items into Counter-Strike 2.

Valve said the release will be a display of the “largest technical leap forward in Counter-Strike‘s history”.

Already available as a limited release to a select number of CS:GO players, Counter-Strike 2 will offer upgraded (and some redesigned) maps, dynamic smoke grenades, tick-rate-independent gameplay, and redesigned audio and visual effects.

Counter-Strike 2 is expected on Windows PC via Steam later this year; we’ll keep you informed as we learn more.
