Control Ultimate Edition access given, then revoked from Digital Deluxe owners

Control Ultimate Edition access was given at no cost, then revoked from Control Digital Deluxe owners on PS4, multiple reports on ResetEra allege.

A number of users on the site have reported that their Control Digital Deluxe edition was upgraded at no cost to the Control Ultimate Edition earlier today. That access has subsequently been revoked.

“Okay so 13 hours ago, and throughout the day, I was able to download [Control] from the Ultimate Edition store page and it showed as purchased on my end,” user Chaserjoey wrote. “Now, the web browser store and the store on PS4 tells me to ‘add (the game) to my basket’ instead of ‘download to my PS4.’

“[505 Games has] flicked the switch to prevent access that they previously allowed.”

Back in August, 505 Games said that “there was some form of blocker and those blockers meant that at least one group of players ended up being left out of the upgrade for various reasons,” when detailing why existing owners of Control would have to re-purchase the game to play on next-gen consoles.

We’ve asked 505 Games for comment on the matter.

Control is currently available on Windows PC via Epic Games Store and Steam, Xbox One and PS4. Control Ultimate Edition is available to purchase now on those same platforms — priced at $69.95 AUD on Xbox — and will also provide Xbox Series S & X and PS5 access later in the year.
