Control Resonant trademarked by Remedy; is this the name of the sequel?

We'll know soon enough.

Control Resonant has been seemingly been trademarked mere weeks ahead of The Game Awards on 11 December, leading many to believe we now know the official name of Control 2.

According to MP1st, the trademark has been filed by Nordia Attorneys at Law, the same lawfirm that Remedy has used for its previous trademarks. “Control Resonant” has been registered in Europe under several tags including video game services, TV series and cinematographic films, and miscellaneous products.

While the trademark could be for a Control sequel, it could also be a TV or film spin-off, of course — Remedy has previously confirmed that it is working with Annapurna to bring Control and Alan Wake to TV and film.

Previously, AMC had purchased the rights to Alan Wake on TV back in 2022, but in 2024 confirmed that the deal had come to an end.

While not confirmed by Remedy, we’re hopeful to hear something about an upcoming project at 11 December’s Game Awards. Until then (or then), we’ll keep you posted as we learn more.

Control 2 itself, of course, has already been confirmed by Remedy and is likely expected in 2027.
