Activision confirms purchase of Major League Gaming

Activision has today confirmed its purchase of Major League Gaming (MLG).

“Our acquisition of Major League Gaming’s business furthers our plans to create the ESPN of Esports,” Activision CEO Bobby Kotick said in a press release.

“MLG’s ability to create premium content, its proven broadcast technology platform — including its live streaming capabilities — strengthens our strategic position in competitive gaming.”

The purchase was rumored yesterday. We’ll have more as this develops.
