Cities Skylines 2 console launch delayed (again)

Patience, controller operators.

The Cities Skylines 2 console launch has again been delayed by publisher Paradox, which cited a continued struggle to get the release ready in time for October of this year.

The console version of the city builder was first expected in October 2023 before a delay to early 2024, and then to October 2024. At that time, Paradox said its team was “struggling to get Cities: Skylines 2 to the necessary level of optimisation for a console release.”

In a new post, Paradox said their dev team is making “slow [and] steady progress”, but cited “unresolved issues” that need to be corrected before launch.

“We expect to receive a new [iteration]… which will undergo a thorough review in August,” Paradox said in its statement. “This evaluation will determine whether we can begin the submission process and provide a solid release date, or if further issues need to be addressed.”

It’s unclear when to expect the sequel on console, but we’ll keep you posted as we learn more.

Cities Skylines 2 is currently available on Windows PC.
