The Casting of Frank Stone is a single-player Dead by Daylight game

Made by none other than Supermassive Games.

The Casting of Frank Stone is a single-player game set within the Dead by Daylight universe, developed by Until Dawn and The Quarry’s Supermassive Games.

“Players will delve into a gruesome mystery where every decision matters, shaping the story and its outcome,” reads a press release from Supermassive and Dead by Daylight‘s Behaviour Interactive. “Offering an unprecedented look at the wider world of Dead by Daylight, prepare to experience an original story that will appeal to both fans of the acclaimed horror franchise and newcomers alike.”

The title is set in “the depths of an Oregon steel mill” and will task players to “delve into the mystery of Cedar Hills alongside an original cast of characters”. The titular Frank Stone acts as the title’s antagonist, at least of a sort, as his past, violent actions loom over a group of young locals.

“We’re always looking at ways to offer different experiences to the Dead by Daylight community,” states Mathieu Côté, Head of Partnerships at Behaviour Interactive. “Our players have been interested in a single-player narrative experience for quite some time, and we’re excited to expand the Dead by Daylight universe and explore new territory with Supermassive games, a studio that is at the forefront of modern video game storytelling.”

“Crafting unique, immersive stories is what we’re passionate about at Supermassive Games,” added Supermassive’s Steve Goss. “We’re massive horror fans and are incredibly excited for the opportunity to tell a completely original story set in the terrifying universe of Dead by Daylight. Expect emotional, tense moments and twists and turns as you get to know a new cast of characters outside of The Entity’s Realm.”

This collaboration between Behaviour and Supermassive was first announced back in May of this year. Another confirmed spin-off will come from Scavengers dev Midwinter Entertainment and will take the form of a multiplayer co-op affair that “will tackle themes of greed and lust for power”.

This, of course, isn’t the first time Dead by Daylight has been spun off into additional projects. Hooked On You is a dating simulator set in the Dead by Daylight universe and was made available to multiple platforms last year.

Expect The Casting of Frank Stone in 2024 on Windows PC via Steam, the Microsoft Store and the Epic Games Store alongside Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X and PS5.
