Capcom will use the RE Engine for upcoming games

Capcom will make use of its RE Engine for a number of new releases, the publisher has recently confirmed.

The mention of upcoming games using the engine — one that’s powered Resident Evil 7, the Resident Evil 2 remake and Devil May Cry 5 on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4 — was made during a recent financials call.

“While we are unable to comment on the specific number of titles or release windows, there are numerous titles currently being developed internally with the RE Engine,” a Capcom representative said.

Moreover, Capcom assured investors that the RE Engine has been designed for future generations of consoles.

“The games we developed using the RE Engine during this current hardware generation have received critical acclaim, and from the early stages of building this engine, we kept the ability to augment it for next-generation development in mind,” Capcom continued. “As such, we view the RE Engine as one of our strengths that will contribute to next-generation game creation.”

Hopefully, we’ll have some of these titles detailed next month at E3 2019. What are you hopeful for in the meantime? A Resident Evil 3 remake would be alright by this writer.
