Capcom to reboot the Resident Evil CG film franchise in 2017

Marza Animation Planet and Capcom today announced that a new Resident Evil CG film will reboot the franchise in 2017.

Our (admittedly feeble) translation of a Japanese press release has confirmed that the new Resident Evil film, as yet unnamed, will be a “complete reboot” starring Chris Redfield, Leon S. Kennedy and Rebecca Chambers.

Shimizu Takashi, director of Ju-on (The Grudge), will serve as Executive Producer on the film, while Tsujimoto Takanori will direct.

This new CG film will join 2008’s Resident Evil: Degeneration and 2012’s Resident Evil: Damnation.

We’ll have more on the 2017 film as it develops.
