Call of Duty: Black Ops III to be released on Xbox 360, PS3 but not Wii U

Activision Blizzard today announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops III will be cross-gen, also available on PS3 and Xbox 360.

Stressing that the game “has been designed to harness the full potential of the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC,” Activision doubled-back, adding it knows “that there are still some fans that haven’t made the transition to the new console hardware.”

Obviously, there are some drawbacks to going last-gen.

“While the teams are working to deliver the best possible experience for Xbox 360 and PS3, naturally there will be some differences across generations,” Activision continued.

Activision also confirmed that a Wii U release is off the table.

We’ll be looking at Black Ops III — and absolutely on Windows PC, Xbox One or PS4 — at this year’s E3.
