Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War’s MP5 has been nerfed

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War‘s MP5 has been nerfed, with developer Treyarch jokingly suggesting that players should try out any other weapon in multiplayer as a result.

“We’ve reduced the base effective damage range by 33% and adjusted the initial recoil for Submachine Gun Alpha,” Treyarch wrote on Twitter. “Now get out there and try the other four!”

If you’d been exclusively using the MP5, we don’t blame you — players applauded it for its range, rate-of-fire, stability and most importantly, range. The gun’s a little less perfect at this point, but overall it’s a lesson that Treyarch needs to properly balance all in-game weapons.

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War is available now on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S & X, PS4 and PS5. We reviewed it here.
