Buy it if you haven’t: Alan Wake 2 has recouped “most” of its production costs

Seriously, buy it if you haven't.

Alan Wake 2 has recouped “most” of its production costs, though developer Remedy has yet to “generate royalties” from the survival horror title, it has recently confirmed.

“Royalties decreased slightly and consisted mainly of game sales of Control and older Alan Wake titles,” Remedy CEO Tero Virtala said of the company as part of its January-September 2024 business review. “Alan Wake 2 did not yet generate royalties.”

While that may sound dire, Remedy seems to be doing alright.

“In the third quarter the operating profit was EUR 2.4 million, improving by EUR 7.9 million from the comparison period,” it continued.

In good news regarding Alan Wake 2, Remedy confirmed that the title had “recouped most of its development and marketing expenses” by the end of the quarter (September-October 2024). What’s better, Alan Wake 2 now has physical release available, which coincided with the release of its Lake House DLC.

In short, there’s never been a better time to throw some money behind Alan Wake 2 and keep the Remedy Connected Universe running. So please do!

We absolutely adored Alan Wake 2, going as far to name it our Game of the Year of 2023. It’s available on Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5.
