Bungie may miss out on a $2.5 million bonus over Destiny’s review scores

Destiny is a pretty good game, but as we noted in our review, it’s also quite hollow. Turns out, many many other sites picked up on that same empty feeling and, as a result, the game currently has a 76% rating on GameRankings and a 77 on Metacritic.

The thing is, Bungie’s original 2010 contract with Activision had a bonus clause that said the developer was entitled to a $2.5 million bonus if the game had a 90 on GameRankings with 30 days of release on the then-current Xbox 360. So that bonus payment isn’t looking good.

Kotaku rightfully points out that the contract may have been revised since then, but only Activision and Bungie know that for sure.

Bungie has promised to update the game to “make it better”, including patches and updates. The game’s first raid went live yesterday.
