Borderlands 3 Science lets players aid real-world scientists

Borderlands 3 Science is available now and offers rewards in exchange for puzzle solving that will aid real-world scientists and researchers.

As Big Bang Theory‘s Mayim Bialik explains in the video below, the new feature will offer up puzzles that require reorganisation by players. Once a puzzle’s been solved, that data — in reality, a representation of microbes found in feces — will be sent off to the Microsett Initiative to aid in “future research into novel treatments and interventions.”

Is it a gimmick more than anything else? Maybe, but even so, solving puzzles will earn players in-game currency. Win-win.

Borderlands 3 is out now on Windows PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Stadia where available.
