Blizzard’s Overwatch goes 1v1 with trademark issues

Blizzard’s Overwatch, a team-based multiplayer first-person shooter, probably won’t be released under that name.

According to documents posted on NeoGAF, The United States Patent and Trademark Office has suspended Blizzard’s trademark application for Overwatch “a likelihood of confusion” with another, previously registered, trademark.

Innovis Labs is seeking a trademark of the same name. They’re developing an app that provides “a tactical utility to enhance airsoft, paintball and first-person shooter gameplay events.” Both applications are considered gaming ones.

Both applications have been suspended at this time.
