Blizzard will only be at Gamescom 2019 to sell merch

Blizzard will not be showing off any of its games at Gamescom 2019 in Germany this year, instead opting for a retail booth that sells merchandise.

“As part of a renewed effort this year to maintain our focus on development, for our current games and our future projects, we won’t have a booth at gamescom 2019,” a post on Blizzard’s website reads.

“You’ll still be able to find Blizzard gear in the gamescom 2019 shop area, and we’re looking forward to returning to the gamescom show floor in the future. We’re also looking forward to sharing more details about the projects we’re currently working on when the time is right.”

Blizzard laid off 2019 staff earlier in the year as part of restructuring at Activision Blizzard that claimed over 800 jobs. It’s unclear if that action has led to a lack of real presence at Gamescom this year.
