Black Friday games spending reaches $4 billion in 2018

Gamers collectively spent over $4 billion on digital games and in-game content over Black Friday 2018.

The numbers come from SuperData, which says figures this year rose dramatically as compared to the same period last year.

Digital game purchases rose 14.3% this Black Friday, attributed to high-profile titles like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

Worldwide premium console revenue rose to $1 billion this year, up 24.5%. Worldwide premium PC sales rose by 18.3% as compared to 2017, sitting st $586 million.

In-game spending also skyrocketed, lead by Fortnite. The free-to-play title amassed $64 million worldwide from in-game purchases during this holiday period.
