Battlefield 6 battle royale Redsec is live, and free-to-play

Set those alarms!

A free-to-play Battlefield 6 battle royale called Redsec is now available, EA and Battlefield Studios have today revealed.

Much like Call of Duty Warzone, the battle royale will be free-to-play, and fired up at 2.00 am AEDT this morning, 29 October, here in Australia.

“As part of this free-to-play package, players can jump into Battlefield’s biggest map ever Fort Lyndon, and experience an explosive new take on the Battle Royale genre,” EA said in a press release. “Battlefield’s DNA is fused with the best of the Battle Royale genre, creating unrivaled opportunities for your team to approach each match and achieve ultimate victory. Players drop into a massive battle with 100 players, explore a massive world for powerful loot, and take down enemy squads through Battlefield’s signature gameplay experience.”

REDSEC’s free-to-play destination also includes Gauntlet, a new mode which pushes squad competition to a new level of intensity,” EA continued. “In this fast-paced elimination mode, 8 teams of 4-player squads compete in a series of dynamic round-based missions in a tournament-style format. Each round consists of 5-minute windows for squads to complete their mission objectives. Prepare for the unexpected as each round, location, and mission will be unique variables.”

Hamish liked (but didn’t love) Battlefield 6 in his review, so maybe Redsec will do something for him.

Battlefield 6 does enough, but it fails to retake the top step through its own power; it’s not as forgettable as other recent entries in the series, but it could have been so much more,” he wrote.

Battlefield 6 is available on Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5.
