Battlefield 6 accused of using AI for cosmetic sticker

Another genAI strikes again...

Battlefield 6 is the latest game to be accused of using AI-generated art, this time in the form of a winter-themed cosmetic sticker.

User Willcario took to Reddit over the weekend with a post titled, “Remove this AI shit from the store,” in which they showcased a new player card sticker titled “Winter Warning”.

“Two barrels on the M4A1, sure,” they wrote. “I would literally prefer to have no sticker than some low quality AI generated garbage. You can look at BO7 and see how many favors AI generated rewards won with them.”

Another user, DEMIG0DX, “fixed” the sticker using AI themself, removing the erroneous second barrel from the weapon.

“Lmao, I can spend 5 minutes in an AI image generator and get that perfect,” AssassinsCreedFan wrote, prompting their fellow user to attempt the fix. “So what’s funny about this is that ALL of them are AI generated, but this is all you people are talking about because they didn’t bother checking and correcting the AI image generator.”

Neither EA or Battlefield Studios have commented on this specific sticker, but they have talked about AI usage in the past. First, EA head said that AI was at “the very core of our business” back in its September Investor Day.

Next, Battlefield Studios’ Rebecka Coutaz told the BBC back in October that generative AI was “very seducing,” but that the studio didn’t have a way to insert it into its work.

Battlefield 6 is available on Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5.
