Batman: Arkham Origins, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate both confirmed by Game Informer

Gamers will get their first look at the latest in the Batman: Arkham series in next month’s Game Informer.

Game Informer has published information ahead of the magazine’s release, confirming that Warner Bros. Montreal is behind the next game, a prequel titled Batman: Arkham Origins.

Arkham Origins takes place at the beginning of Batman’s career, and as such, he’ll be taking on villains for the very first time. Obviously, Game Informer’s cover also confirmed that Deathstroke — also appearing in Injustice: Gods Among Us — will be one of those villains.

Warner Bros. Montreal will take over development from Rocksteady, but they’ve had Arkham experience in the past, creating the Wii U port of Batman: Arkham City. As a side note — do you think Rocksteady isn’t working on this project as they’re busy at work with a direct sequel to Batman: Arkham City?

Game Informer also confirmed a 3DS and PS Vita companion title called Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate, developed by Armature Studio.

Looks like those rumours were true, eh? Batman: Arkham Origins will be released on Wii U, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC from 25 October 2013, while Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate will be available at an unannounced date on 3DS and PS Vita.

[UPDATE] Warner Bros. has just sent through a Batman: Arkham Origins logo, which you can view below.
