Batman: Arkham Knight makes the jump from Teen to Mature in the ESRB rating system

Rocksteady’s third (and last?) Batman: Arkham game, Arkham Knight, has ditched the franchise’s ‘Teen’ ESRB rating in America for the dark and gritty ‘Mature’ one.

The Entertainment Software Ratings Board says that Batman: Arkham Knight contains blood, language, suggestive themes and violence, and as such, delivered the ‘Mature’ rating.

Batman: Arkham Knight has also been classified as ‘M’ for ‘Mature’ in Australia… but then again, so too was Batman: Arkham Origins, Arkham City and Arkham Asylum. The ACB cites moderate impact themes and violence.

Batman: Arkham Knight will be available from 2 June on PS4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
