Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 5 has two new modes, epilogue and more

Lots packed in.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 5 is now available on Windows PC and PS5 and is jam packed with content, including two new game modes and a playable epilogue.

First, the playable epilogue takes place six months after the events of the game and allows you to say your “final goodbyes” to your party — that is, if you’re anywhere near the end of your adventure (which I am most decidedly not). The epilogue has 3,589 new lines and two game modes. Custom Mode makes short rests fully healing, disables Death Saving Throws, and lets you hide failed Perception Checks — you’ll never know they happened.

Honour Mode is all about challenge, featuring a Legendary Action system which will change enemy actions in the middle of a battle. Inspiration Points become more valuable and, most important of all, save scumming will not be permitted within the mode. Certain known exploits that remain available in lesser difficulties have been removed from Honour Mode, so the name of the mode should be making more sense to seasoned players by this point.

Those who manage to complete a game in Honour Mode — meaning you can’t die — will be awarded a Golden D20 for their troubles. Worth it? You tell us in the comments section, below.

Patch 5 also fixes a bunch of bugs and glitches including slowdowns and Astarion’s kisses. You can read full patch notes here. Larian’s advised that those who have no room for the update process uninstall and reinstall the entire game.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is available now on Windows PC and PS5, and is expected this month on Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X.
