Avengers Xbox Series X, PS5 release confirmed alongside free upgrades

An Avengers Xbox Series X, PS5 release has been confirmed alongside news that both platforms will offer current- to next-gen upgrades for free.

“Players who own the current-gen version of the game will be able to upgrade to the next-gen version at no additional cost, regardless if players are moving from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5 or Xbox One to Xbox Series X,” Square Enix advised in a press release.

“Those moving their saves to next-gen will transfer their player profiles and progression so they can pick up right where they left off.  In addition, cross-gen play will be supported so PS5 players will be able to play with their friends on PS4 and Xbox Series X players will be connected with their friends on Xbox One.”

The title has also been confirmed to support options for Enhanced Graphics Mode or High Framerate Mode on PS5, a move likely to be offered on Xbox Series X as well.

New screenshots were also shared as part of the announcement; they can be found below.

Avengers heads to Windows PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Stadia on 4 September and will head to Xbox Series X and PS5 upon their launches.
