Aussies can buy Doom for $64 AUD…

Good news! And bad, pessimistic news.

There’s an eBay group buy going on right now for Bethesda’s Doom. You can grab the shooter for a low, low $64 AUD right this second.

The problem is, Bethesda has confirmed that gaming outlets like Stevivor won’t get a copy of the game until its release… which arguably is a sign that a publisher doesn’t trust its product in the wild.

To be fair, Bethesda’s official line on the matter is as follows: “DOOM is comprised of a single-player campaign, online multiplayer, and SnapMap. After discussing, we believe all three elements are important parts of the complete DOOM experience, and are meant to be experienced as part of a complete package. As DOOM’s SnapMap and multiplayer modes both require access to a server that won’t be live prior to launch, review copies will arrive on launch day.”

The choice is yours, gentle gamer: do you buy now and get the game cheap, or do you hang off to see if it’s any good? We played the game’s recent beta, and if that weightless multiplayer is any indication of what to expect, we’d go the latter…

The other thing is, unless a bunch of people take the offer up right away, clever monkeys might be able to snag a deal after release and initial impressions. The sale runs beyond Doom‘s 13 May release date on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4.

What are your thoughts on the matter? Are you pulling the trigger?

Thanks, Goose.
