Aussie cast as regular in the Star Trek Picard TV series

An Australian actor has been cast in the upcoming Star Trek Picard series that will be led by Captain Jean-Luc Picard himself, Patrick Stewart.

Aussie actor and model Evan Evagora has been cast alongside already announced regulars Santiago Canrera and Michelle Hurd. None of the announced cast — besides Stewart himself, that is — have had any details of the characters they’ll portray announced by CBS.

Evagora’s a relative newcomer, and will star in a horror comedy adaptation of Fantasy Island soon. A model born and raised in Melbourne, VIC, Evagora’s mother is of New Zealand and Cook Island Maori descent, with a father who traces his roots back to Cyprus.

The Star Trek Picard series — name unconfirmed — is set to enter production in the coming weeks. Star Trek: The Next Generation series regular Jonathan Frakes (Commander Riker) has been confirmed as a director of some of this new series’ episodes.

Star Trek Picard will likely air in Australia on Netflix, just like Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Short Treks and the upcoming Star Trek: Section 31 and Star Trek: Lower Decks. In America, the shows air on CBS All Access.
