Assassin’s Creed Shadows Switch 2 release coming December, offers cross-progression

Though its Claws of Awaji expansion isn't coming until next year.

The Assassin’s Creed Shadows Switch 2 release date has been set for 2 December, Ubisoft has announced, with its Claws of Awaji expansion following in 2026.

“Optimized for all play modes, the Nintendo Switch 2 version will let players enjoy the game seamlessly at home or on the go,” Ubisoft said. “It will also include touch screen support, making navigation of menus, maps and the hideout more intuitive than ever.”

The game will be offered as a game-key card or download, so a hefty download is likely required in either case.

“The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Assassin’s Creed Shadows will support cross-progression across all platforms through Ubisoft Connect, ensuring players can continue their journey seamlessly across platforms,” Ubisoft added.

Ben awarded Shadows an 8/10 in our review, saying it is “best played with hidden blades as a stealth-action game reminiscent of what Assassin’s Creed used to be, but its greatest strength is choice. It’s up to the player to choose to stay in the shadows or emerge from the darkness.”

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is available on Windows PC via Steam, Ubisoft Connect, and Epic Games Store alongside Mac, Amazon Luna, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5. It heads to Switch 2 on 2 December
