Assassin’s Creed Odyssey leans into ancient myths

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey showed off how ancient myths impact its world today at Gamescom.

“As Alexios or Kassandra, players will encounter… myths firsthand, in the form of Legendary Animals and Mythical Creatures, while battling Mercenaries and defying the Cult of Kosmos. Mercenaries, skilled warriors, will hunt Alexios or Kassandra if they’re caught breaking the law,”  Ubisoft today detailed.

“These tenacious enemies boast advanced combat techniques and abilities, wield valuable weapons and can be accompanied by predatory pets. They will relentlessly track the hero on land and sea as soon as a bounty is placed over their head.”

Moreover, Legendary Animals — inspired by myths such as Hercules fighting the Nemean Lion, the Lykaon Wolf and Kallisto the bear — will appear in-game alongside creatures inspired by Greek legends like the snake-haired Medusa.

Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey heads to Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4 on 5 October.
