As xDefiant and Concord fail, 2K announces new free-to-play hero shooter

Will Project ETHOS have what it takes?

In the wake of Concord‘s unceremonious delisting and amidst rumours of Ubisoft shutting down xDefiant, 2K and 31st Union have today announced Project ETHOS, a free-to-play hero shooter.

“Shape your playstyle every match through Evolutions, powerful, semi-randomised, upgrades unique to each hero,” 2K said of the new shooter. “Evolve a sniper into a close-range skirmisher, or a support role into a powerful lone wolf. Build your hero in real-time to suit your personal playstyle.

“Discover new levels of mastery across every run as you take on the competition with new abilities, stakes, and challenges that change every match. With the clock ticking, do you safely extract with your hard-earned cores, or go big, risk it all, and see if you and your team can earn top ranking. The choice is yours.”

A special playtest will run between 18-21 October, though Australia is not able to access it. Those in United States, Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, and Italy can jump in now.

We’ll have more on Project ETHOS as it becomes available. In the meantime, do you have room in your heart for another free-to-play shooter available on Windows PC, Xbox, and PlayStation?
