Apple detailed a host of new products today, including the iPhone 17 range of phones, AirPods Pro 3, and the Apple Watch Series 11.
New iPhone 17 range
Announced today were the iPhone 17, the iPhone Air, the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
The iPhone 17 now comes with 256GB storage, twice as much as last generation, alongside a 512GB option. Its rear cameras are all 48MP, and the phone itself can record video in 4K 60FPS Dolby Vision. Meanwhile, the iPhone Air is touted by Apple as “the thinnest iPhone ever made”.
Larger, beefier iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models “feature A19 Pro, the most powerful and efficient chip for iPhone yet, enabling the advanced camera systems, next-level mobile gaming, and Apple Intelligence,” Apple said. “Built with an Apple-designed vapour chamber that is laser-welded into a strong, light, and thermally conductive aluminium unibody, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max deliver Apple’s best-ever performance and an enormous leap in battery life.”
Pricing on the iPhone 17 begins at $1,399 AUD, while the iPhone Air starts at $1,799 AUD. The iPhone 17 Pro starts $1,999 AUD, and and iPhone 17 Pro Max starts at $2,199 AUD. Pre-orders begin on 12 September.
AirPods Pro 3
The new AirPods Pro 3 are said by Apple to “[remove] up to 2x more noise than the previous-generation AirPods Pro, and 4x more than the original AirPods Pro”.
“The updated design helps AirPods Pro 3 fit even better and provides greater in-ear stability during activities like running, HIIT, yoga, and more,” Apple continued. “For the first time, users can utilise AirPods Pro 3 to measure heart rate and track over 50 workout types with the new experience in the Fitness app on iPhone. Live Translation also comes to AirPods, making face-to-face conversations easier by helping users connect even if they don’t speak the same language.”
AirPods Pro 3 can be pre-ordered today and are available from 19 September. They retail for $429 AUD.
New Apple Watches
Apple also announced the Apple Watch Series 11, the Apple Watch SE 3 and the Apple Watch Ultra 3 today.
The Series 11 touts a longer battery life and “Ion-X glass that’s 2x more scratch-resistant”, while the budget-priced SE 3 is made with 40% recycled content. Finally, the Ultra 3 features a larger screen and 42 hours of battery life.
All watches can be pre-ordered today and will be available from 19 September. The Apple Watch SE 3 is priced at $399 AUD, while the Apple Watch Series 11 will set you back $679 AUD. Finally, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 will retail for $1,399 AUD.
